How we evaluate dog food

We do not take paid product placements from pet food brands. Every recipe on this site goes through four checks.

1. FEDIAF standards. We confirm the recipe meets European Pet Food Industry Federation complete nutrition guidelines for the life stage it claims.
2. Macro analysis. We check protein, fat, and fibre percentages against what the dog actually needs, and flag anything that reads as filler.
3. First five ingredients. We prioritise named meats and fish over cheap cereal fillers and unnamed meat meals.
4. Owner feedback. We read real owner reports on stool firmness, wind, and coat condition, not just the marketing copy.

Veterinary reviewers

Our guides are reviewed by RCVS registered veterinary surgeons based in the UK. A reviewer can ask for a claim to be changed or removed, and we publish the change rather than argue it.
